If you haven’t been using the social media giant Facebook for your marketing efforts, you haven’t been doing it right at all. So, you’ve created a Facebook page for your company to connect with your customers? Well, that’s great but that definitely is not enough. Did you know? Your Facebook profile can even rank in the search engines! So, it’s time you optimized your Facebook page too. Here is how you can do just that:
- Create a Custom URL: Facebook has moved past the string of random numbered URLs and has allowed users to customize their URL for a personalized Facebook username since June 2009. If you want Facebook users to find your company profile when conducting searches, be sure to claim your own custom URL. Besides the name of the company, you can also include targeted keywords in your custom URL. Whatever you do, make sure your custom URL is one you are going to stick to for a long time since a custom URL isn’t editable.
- Add content snippets: Blog posts and articles; if you have them, post them to your wall. It’s a great way to attract customers and make use of your keywords. But make sure they are just snippets you post. You don’t want the entire thing to be read on your Facebook wall, do you? Think of your snippets as a way of attracting readers to your company site.
- Don’t forget the Info tab: Your Info tab should be filled as completely as possible. Make sure you’ve included a company description, links to your main site, your blog, any other social networking profiles plus you company address and phone number.
